Christian Aid got in touch!

We truly thank God for continuing to get our name out there. World renown charity, Christian Aid got in touch with ladies who fellowship in the city! Big causes such as Christian Aid is such an important movement for humanity. Being invited to their big brekkie was awesome too!

We were given an introduction about the charity, their missions and current work in less economically developed countries that suffer and lack of the basics that we often take for granted in Westernised countries. They do SO much worldwide for the less fortunate despite what religion or background they are from, whilst carrying the true message about loving our neighbours, just as Jesus advises us to do.

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

                                                                               1 John 3:18

It was such a warm and inviting type of fellowship, and we truly thank God for organisations like Christian Aid that unify followers of Christ together! God bless fellowship, God bless Christian Aid :) thank you for a lovely breakfast!

First meeting of 2016!

Jesus has the authority, victory and power

Revelation 1:18

I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death

Question: "What are the keys of death (Revelation 1:18)?"

Answer:
In Revelation 1:18 Jesus says, “I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” Possessing the “keys of death” means that the risen Christ has control and authority over death

In John 10:17–18, Jesus says, “The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

:: When Jesus died, He died according to His own timing, when He “gave up his spirit” (John 19:30“A jug of sour wine was standing by. Someone put a sponge soaked with the wine on a javelin and lifted it to his mouth. After he took the wine, Jesus said, “It’s done . . . complete.” Bowing his head, he offered up his spirit.”
John 19:29-30 MSG

Pilate was surprised to hear that Jesus was already dead (Mark 15:44).
“Now when evening had come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, coming and taking courage, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Pilate marveled that He was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if He had been dead for some time. So when he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph. Then he bought fine linen, took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen. And he laid Him in a tomb which had been hewn out of the rock, and rolled a stone against the door of the tomb. And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses observed where He was laid.”
Mark 15:42-47 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/mrk.15.42-47.nkjv

Jesus, who has the authority over death, had the unique power to give up His spirit and to rise from the dead. Moreover, He has the authority to release His followers from death in order that they may be with Him forever.

Think of the concept of giving someone “the key to the city.” This key is sometimes a large, key that fits no lock but is symbolic of an honor bestowed. Someone given “a key to the city” is considered welcome and honored within that city. The Bible frequently speaks of keys as representing control or authority over something or someone. This concept makes sense; to possess a master key to a building is to have the authority to open any of its doors and enter any room.

Isaiah 37:2 *read*
speaks of Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, an honorable man sent on an important errand. In chapter 22, it was written that Eliakim would be given authority and that God would “place on his shoulder the key to the house of David.” By the “key to the house of David,” it is meant that the Lord would place Eliakim in a position of authority. Later, Eliakim becomes the governor of the palace in Jerusalem.

Never be afraid to ask God to provide you with the same key in the area that you wish to have authority over, it could be to have more authority in your household, more responsibilities in your job, more challenges that you know the Lord has equipped you with!

In Revelation 9:1–2,  *read*
an angel is given a key to, or control over, the bottomless pit, and he uses the key to open that pit. Later, an angel is seen locking things in the bottomless pit (20:1–3) *read* Satan casted for 1000 years.

I find that in this day and age through the actions we choose that we have a CHOICE of whether to spend one day in the lord's court or a thousand elsewhere. There's even a song "better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere" - choose wisely!

Eternal life through Jesus Christ is the blessed assurance John describes in 1 John 5:6–13

We have a choice. The biggest part of he Christian journey is when we are born again which means to fully accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and saviour, to believe he rose from the dead, and to believe that he will come again. AND to recognise that he has the authority and power over our lives

Jesus having the keys of death means He has the power to release from death those who receive the gift of salvation He offers.

CAN I ASK:: HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JESUS AND GOD, AND WHO WOULD YOU SAY HAS THE AUTHORITY?

The trinity: Jesus is God in the sense that he is the creator
Jesus was always there
Father son and Holy Spirit
Jesus: salvation
Holy Spirit: helper

WHAT CAN WE DO MORE OF IN OUR CHRISTIAN WALK IN ORDER TO BE GRANTED AUTHORITY?
- knowing the word and knowing who WE are in God
Have a strong relationship with him regardless of the seasons we know where we stand
Our authority comes from Him, not ourselves.

We as Christians are all entitled to have access to the key of authority that God has given to us, are you ready to surrender and give God total control of your life?

"Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere"
- Psalm 84:10

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LWFITC!

Indeed! It's been a year since LWFITC launched. On the 17th November 2014, 3 ladies interested in Bible study and gaining a bigger and clearer perspective of God gathered together at a pancake house based in Holborn. We spoke about our purpose, we didn't know what this would turn into; but we knew it would be fruitful and a beautiful journey.

Over the course of the year Ladies Who Fellowship In The City has been in existence, we've been so blessed to grow in number, have guest speakers, testimonies, breakthroughs, friendships, sisterhood, and much deeper rooted faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

It's not always been an easy journey, but it's been so so worth it. No one to thank but God for imprinting the vision, and guiding us throughout.

We marked the blessed year of LWFITC with a weekend retreat in Rugby. Our guest speaker spoke to us about love and fruits (will post full audio link in next blog post).

We prayed, read, spoke, laughed, and left feeling so blessed and enriched. God bless fellowship, forever! Some photos from the stunning weekend:

The things we’re not talking about in the church [meeting number 20!]

This meeting was very energetic, intimate, vibrant, and honest! We each delved into conversation under important topics going on in the church but not openly spoken about. To be honest, sadly, this conversation could’ve gone on for a while. And that’s the bad part about it. Why are certain topics being avoided when it’s sermon time in church? Problems such as:

Money, Abuse, and the more in-depth talk which was also on fornication. Notes on fornication:

Fornication

The Bible repeatedly instructs God’s people to “flee fornication.” For 2,000 years, the word translated “fornication” in Scripture has been understood to include the prohibition of sex prior to marriage. The dictionary definition is clear: “consensual sexual intercourse between two persons not married to each other.

A Privileged Experience
God designed the physical union of a man and a woman as a privileged experience within the bounds of marriage. The Lord intended marriage as a secure environment for raising children and a uniquely meaningful union that symbolises God’s committed relationship to us (Ephesians 5:32).

If there was nothing wrong with premarital sex, then why was Joseph determined to divorce Mary when he discovered she was expecting a child prior to marriage?

If there is nothing wrong with premarital sex, then one could conclude there is nothing wrong with having children out of wedlock.

Obviously, those who would suggest the liberalisation of the biblical standard are ignoring the clear teaching of Scripture, conforming to the values of the world, and yielding to the desires of the flesh. As Jesus said, “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19).

The Church’s Responsibility
The church has a responsibility to practice discipline in regard to flagrant, known sin.
This is especially true for those in leadership. We are to gently confront believers who are known to be living in sin and encourage them to repent.

In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus cautioned us not to attempt to remove a speck from someone else’s eye without first examining ourselves to make sure there is not a log protruding from our own. Later, He explained that if the person living in sin doesn’t repent, then the believer is to take two or three others to confront again. If the backslider still refuses to change, the issue is to be taken to the church (Matthew 19:16-17).
The shepherds of the flock are then to confront in love and encourage restoration to Christ. If the offender still refuses to repent, he/she is to be treated as an unbeliever.

Removal Option
The Apostle Paul instructed the Corinthian church to remove from their fellowship a man who persisted in living in incest, warning, “With such a man do not even eat” (1 Corinthians 5:11).

This does sound quite harsh in the times that we are living in that seems to tolerate everything, but they work very effectively—often in the first stages.

God designed the church to consist of people who are “called out” from the world.

We are to live separate and holy lives.
Unless we practice some measure of church discipline, the church is in danger of simply reflecting its culture rather than transforming it.

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus said if salt loses its saltiness, it is good for nothing except to be cast out and trodden under men’s feet. This is the present-day danger all church leaders face.

May we have courage to point others to the truth instead of settling for the path of least resistance. Amen!

Thank you for reading, God bless you.

Meeting number 19 notes..: FEAR

The writer of Hebrews was addressing Hebrew believers who had tasted fear. They were exhausted, their friends and family had been imprisoned or killed, and they were wondering if living for Jesus was worth it. They were scared for their lives and families.

They were weary.

In just a little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay... But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back. — Hebrews 10:37-38, emphasis added).

Let those words haunt you. I shrink back a lot, and it haunts me too. We all are plagued with inner wars:

“I shrink back because I’m afraid.”

“I don’t trust myself.”

“I’m confused because I’m not exactly sure what it is He wants me to do.”

“I don’t know for sure that I can do what God wants me to do.”

“I’ve already got too much to do right in front of me.”

I don’t know what it is for you, but I bet that in some way, in some place in your soul, you are shrinking back. Even though we were saved and have God with us to live our callings, we all are shrinking back. So let’s go there.

Why are you shrinking back? Why are you afraid to live your calling? Where do you feel the most resistance?

PHYSICALLY?
“I can’t neglect other responsibilities.”

“It’s really not a big deal.”

“I’m too young or old.”

“I am not 100 percent sure this is God’s will.”

EMOTIONALLY?
“It feels lonely.”

“I can’t control what is going to happen.”

“I am scared I’ll fail.”

“I am not a leader.”
RELATIONALLY?

“What if God takes someone I love?”

“I’ll look foolish.”

“If I do this, I will let people down.”

“My family doesn’t understand.”

“People think I’m crazy.”

“My life will look different than my friends’.”

SPIRITUALLY?
“I am not good enough for God to use me.”

“I can’t even pray right now.”

“I don’t know if I trust God’s plan for me.”

“Do I really believe God is real?”

“I am stuck in sin.”

“I don’t think God even sees me.”

“Is it worth it?”

“What if God doesn’t show up?”

“What if I am misreading God?”

So do the work. Ask yourself, why are you shrinking back?

Fight Fear
"I shrink back because I’m afraid. I am afraid of what I will lose."

We have to deal with fear because it is possible that it will make us miss the best parts of life.

We all face fear. But we must kill fear like it is the devil, because it usually is. We do not belong to the one who shrinks back; we belong to the One who moved through His blood and sweat and despair and fear and reluctance in the garden of Gethsemane and said,

Not My will, but Yours be done. I belong to You and I will live for You and die for You. — Luke 22:42

He walked headfirst into His death.

So fight with me.

Fight Uncertainty
That little voice in your head that's telling you you're not good enough? Rebuke it!

Fight Distraction
We spoke about the importance of shunning things that are not good for us that will try to get in the way of the assignment we fear that God has called us to do.

All things are permissible but not all things are beneficial. — 1 Corinthians 10:23

OUR MISSIONS

Just thought we'd remind you of our missions at Ladies Who Fellowship in The City : ..:

- To bring more women closer to Christ through fellowship and evangelism
- To make fellowship a movement worldwide; no matter what background/walk of life you come from!
- To grow fully in spirit and truth, knowing that the Christian journey doesn't have to be spent alone

There is no such thing as a 'perfect' Christian..none of us are perfect. We are choosing to live Godly lives, reaching deeper into our purpose on earth, and adding our gifts and talents to the kingdom.

It all starts with building a relationship with God, then the rest shall follow. How do you build a relationship with God? Pray. Talk to Him. Read. Study Him. Fellowship. Share thoughts/feelings and questions with others. Fellowship with us! :)

Proverbs 31:29-31New Living Translation (NLT)

29 “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world,
    but you surpass them all!”

aaand for the people reading this for the first time, below is an intro of what LWFITC is about!..:

Ladies who fellowship in the city is about women joining together every fortnight to discuss the word of God and curiosities we have. We began in November 2014 with a vision from God to bring a community of women together who have curiosities about Christ and want to gather with other like-minded women who are also on a journey with God/want to get to know more of Him.

All of our meetings have been so warm, friendly and powerful; from guest speakers, to some ladies openly sharing their testimonies, to overall growth in spirit and knowledge of the Word! Amen!

Most meetings have a plan of what we'll discuss, and throughout we're constantly discussing and sharing views/opinions and personal encounters with God.

Essentially, it's all about forming a close companionship and bond with God. So much craziness is going on in the world so it's beautiful knowing young women m are curious in wanting to know more about God. None of us are preachers but we all want to GROW and make the most out of our lives, as we are living in time of many tests and challenges.

Fellowship is beautiful because you never feel alone - and what better way than getting clued up in the word through several passages in the Bible and discussing each topic it relates to. All women are welcome,  meetings are usually 60-90 mins and based all over central London x

:)
